SIFMA CEO Kenneth Bentsen publicly defended the CLARITY Act on August 6, describing it as containing « a number of good things ». Senator Chris Van Hollen has called the bill « not ready for prime time » and proposed eight amendments focused on illicit finance controls and restrictions on elected officials’ involvement in digital asset platforms. The legislation, formally H.R. 3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025, passed the House with nearly 300 votes in July 2025. The Senate Banking Committee began reviewing an updated draft on May 14, 2026.
