Saudi Arabian oil shipments to US drop to zero in July for first time since 1985

The United States imported exactly zero barrels of Saudi Arabian crude oil throughout July 2026, marking a first since 1985. During the same period last year, the US was importing roughly 283,000 barrels per day from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s total crude exports fell to approximately 4.19 million barrels per day, impacted by geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. This streak represents the longest period without Saudi oil shipments reaching US shores in over 16 years.
