SpaceX faces $101 billion share unlock as debut earnings reveal massive AI spending spree

SpaceX reported its first quarterly earnings as a public company for Q2 2026 with revenue of $7.8 billion, beating Wall Street estimates of $6.81 billion. The company posted a net loss of $541 million, driven by capital expenditures of $18.4 billion on AI infrastructure. On August 6, 2026, up to 911.5 million shares valued at approximately $101 billion will become eligible for trading, significantly expanding the public float from its initial level of 4.9%. The stock has fallen approximately 15% from its $135 IPO price in June 2026, trading around $114-115, and is down 49% from post-IPO highs. SpaceX also disclosed holding 18,712 BTC worth approximately $1.1 billion on its balance sheet.
