Tesla has been pressuring European regulators since late 2024 to keep safety-testing data on its Full Self-Driving system confidential. The Dutch road authority RDW granted provisional EU type approval for FSD on April 10, 2026, without making the underlying safety documentation public. At least six European countries, including Germany and Denmark, have refused to release FSD performance data, citing commercial interests and trade-secret protections. France opposes FSD approval, specifically citing concerns about speeding behavior. An EU vote on wider recognition of Tesla’s FSD could take place as early as October 2026.
