At least 15 U.S. states have reported cyclosporiasis cases linked to contaminated iceberg lettuce. The Cyclospora parasite, which causes watery diarrhea, has infected over 25,000 people in the United States this year, far exceeding the previous record of about 4,700 cases in 2019. Taylor Farms has recalled iceberg lettuce grown in central Mexico. Michigan has been particularly hard hit with over 12,000 cases and two deaths. The FDA is currently tracking five separate cyclospora outbreaks across the country.
