SoftBank reported net income of 347.3 billion yen ($2.2 billion) in Q1 fiscal year 2026, down 18% year-over-year. The Japanese conglomerate was lifted by an investment gain of 1.3 trillion yen ($8.5 billion) from its Intel stake. Intel shares surged 216% during the quarter, generating nearly four times SoftBank’s entire quarterly net income on paper. OpenAI contributed essentially nothing material to this quarter’s results, with discussions around a potential IPO or another funding round still ongoing.
