SpaceX Posts Record Results for Its First Earnings Report, Yet Stock Falls Anyway

SpaceX published its first quarterly results as a listed company on August 4, reporting second-quarter revenue of $7.81 billion, up 92% year-over-year and well above analyst expectations. The artificial intelligence segment was particularly strong at $2.6 billion in revenue, a 247% increase year-over-year, while Starlink generated $4.3 billion from 1.7 million net new subscribers. The company raised its annual guidance for the first time in 24 years, with its order backlog now reaching $47.5 billion. Despite these exceptional results, the stock declined approximately 5% after hours due to concerns over massive infrastructure investments, as capital expenditures reached $18.369 billion for the quarter. SpaceX ended the quarter with $100 billion in cash, including $1.1 billion in bitcoin.
