The three memory giants (Micron, SK Hynix and Samsung) are facing unprecedented demand linked to artificial intelligence. Micron’s 2026 production capacity is fully committed through binding multi-year contracts, and the broader memory sector is expected to remain sold out through 2027. SK Hynix’s CEO has stated that 2027 will see the worst-ever memory supply shortage in history. Micron has committed roughly 200 billion dollars to future capacity investments, with new output not expected online until late 2027 at the earliest, generating projected gross margins around 68%.
