UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico), Latin America’s largest public university, conducted its entrance exams entirely remotely for the first time in 2026, partnering with Territorium Life and its AI-powered proctoring system. Results from the Medicine program showed major statistical anomalies: 29.3 percent of candidates scored 100 out of 120, compared to just 9 percent the previous year. The university has ordered approximately 58,000 applicants to retake the exam while a commission of 16 experts conducts an internal investigation. AI proctoring measures proved insufficient as students could use a second device to cheat. UNAM has suspended further enrollments pending the investigation’s findings.
