US Central Command redirects 44 vessels as Iran blockade sends ripples through crypto markets

US Central Command has redirected 44 commercial vessels, disabled two, and boarded two more as part of its naval blockade of Iran. US authorities have frozen more than $344 million in Iran-linked digital assets, with an additional $131 million reported in related enforcement actions. The blockade, in place since April 13, represents one of the most aggressive maritime enforcement operations in recent memory with 58 vessels redirected and 4 disabled since its inception. The integration of digital assets into this sanctions strategy marks a major evolution in the use of financial tools by the United States to control networks used to circumvent punitive measures.
