US factory activity expands at strongest pace since 2022, signaling potential tailwinds for risk assets

The ISM manufacturing index climbed to 55.6 in July, its strongest reading since May 2022, beating analyst expectations of 54.0. Production surged to 58.5, its highest since November 2021, while new orders came in at 56.7, signaling accelerating demand. Employment returned to expansion territory at 52.8, the first time since January 2025, and the prices index declined to 71.1 from 73.0 in June. The broader US economy has now expanded for 21 consecutive months.
