Chelsea FC sells defender Trevoh Chalobah to Como for €30M as crypto-sponsored clubs reshape transfer economics

Chelsea FC has sold defender Trevoh Chalobah to Italian Serie A club Como 1907 for a base fee of 30 million euros plus performance-related add-ons. Negotiations lasted several weeks with Como initially offering between 23 and 28 million euros before meeting Chelsea’s asking price. The transfer is part of Chelsea’s strategy to sell fringe players to fund new acquisitions while maintaining its crypto sponsorship with exchange BingX, active since January 2024. Como, backed by Indonesian billionaire investors and counting former players Cesc Fàbregas and Thierry Henry among its minority owners, aims for mid-table stability in Serie A with this statement signing.
