South Korean Exchange Bithumb Targets 2028 IPO

South Korean exchange Bithumb has published a three-stage roadmap targeting a stock market listing in 2028. The exchange plans to upgrade internal controls and transition to international K-IFRS accounting standards in 2026, then file for preliminary listing review in 2027. Bithumb is currently facing significant regulatory and legal challenges, including a $24.5 million fine imposed by financial regulators in March. Its chief executive, Lee Jae-won, was also booked as a bribery suspect in June. The roadmap emphasizes transparency, governance and alignment with international financial standards to rebuild investor trust.
