D-Wave partners with Nasdaq Verafin to test quantum-powered financial crime detection

D-Wave, a quantum computing company, has launched a pilot program with Nasdaq’s Verafin division, which specializes in anti-money laundering and fraud detection. The partnership is still in its early stages without published results or performance benchmarks. Nasdaq acquired Verafin for 2.75 billion dollars in November 2020, highlighting the strategic importance of this platform. D-Wave operates its Advantage3 system with 100,000 qubits, one of the most powerful quantum computers commercially available. Until concrete comparative data demonstrates quantum systems outperforming classical solutions, the partnership remains a statement of intent rather than proof of capability.
