Bitget announced its gradual withdrawal from the Japanese market, with a ban on new user registrations and forced closure of all open positions by December 31, 2026. Japanese users have until November 1, 2026, to verify their accounts, risking progressive restrictions. This decision follows warnings from Japan’s Financial Services Agency and stricter regulatory requirements mandating registration for all crypto service providers. The yen hit a nearly 40-year low around 164 per dollar in late July, prompting Japanese and US authorities to conduct a coordinated intervention to support the currency.
