Texans lost approximately $57 million to crypto kiosk scams in 2025, according to state lawmakers. At least one committee chair, Representative Cole Hefner, plans to propose a complete ban on these machines during the 2027 legislative session. Texas would thus join Indiana, Tennessee, and Minnesota, which have already outlawed Bitcoin ATMs starting in 2026. At the federal level, bill S.710 aiming to protect consumers against these frauds has been introduced in Congress.
