BitMEX wipes out 35 derivatives as exchange shutdown approaches with punishing post-closure fees

BitMEX settled 35 derivatives contracts on July 30, closing all remaining positions and canceling open orders. Thirty-three contracts closed at 12:00:05 UTC, while EURUSD and USDCHF followed more than 30 minutes later. The platform, which will permanently shut down on September 23 at 04:00 UTC, will impose risk limits starting August 26. KYC-verified users who leave assets on the platform after closure will face monthly fees equal to the greater of $50 equivalent or 1% per year.
