Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure platform, announced on July 30 the acquisition of Anyscale, the maker of the open-source Ray framework used to distribute AI workloads across GPU clusters. The deal is valued at approximately $1.65 billion and is expected to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory approvals. Anyscale’s roughly 200 employees will join Nscale, which raised $2 billion in its Series C funding round in March 2026, valuing the company at $14.6 billion. Anyscale counts Coinbase among its clients, with the cryptocurrency exchange using Ray for scalable compute orchestration. This acquisition is part of Nscale’s strategy to build a vertically integrated AI stack, following its purchase of AIPCorp which gave it access to a microgrid capable of generating over 8 GW of energy in West Virginia.
