China threatens retaliation against U.S. humanoid robot ban, says it ‘severely damages’ relations

China has threatened retaliation after the U.S. Federal Communications Commission banned imports of foreign-made humanoid robots over cybersecurity concerns. China’s commerce ministry said the decision « severely damages China-U.S. economic and trade stability » and called for the measure to be withdrawn. Chinese companies Agibot, Unitree, and UBTech held the top three positions in the humanoid robot market by installation market share last year, according to Counterpoint Research. Hong Kong-listed UBTech shares fell more than 6% on Thursday morning. China could restrict its rare earth sales and limit market access for American companies like Tesla and NVIDIA.
