The lawmakers argue this creates a structural information asymmetry favoring institutional investors over retail investors. Trump controls approximately 41% of TMTG through a family trust, and the company trades on NASDAQ under the ticker DJT. The SEC, chaired by Paul Atkins, has not yet indicated whether it will act on the request.
