Elon Musk settles legal battle with X advertisers, ending years-long antitrust saga

Elon Musk and X platform have reached a settlement to end their legal dispute with advertisers, closing one of the most contentious corporate battles arising from the $44 billion Twitter acquisition in 2022. X Corp filed an antitrust lawsuit in August 2024 against the World Federation of Advertisers and several major brands, accusing them of coordinating a boycott and withholding billions of dollars in advertising revenue. Some companies had slashed their ad spending by over 70 % after the change in ownership. On March 26, 2026, US District Judge Jane Boyle dismissed the case, ruling that X Corp failed to demonstrate any qualifying antitrust injury under federal competition laws. A settlement has now been reached to definitively close the entire chapter, though the terms remain undisclosed.
