Tether (USDT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) to develop digital asset education, securities tokenization via its Hadron platform, and a Kenya-specific AML/KYC framework. This initiative aligns with the NSE’s 2025-2029 strategic plan to modernize market infrastructure and expand investor accessibility. The NSE will test tokenized securities and fractional ownership to lower investment thresholds, allowing retail and diaspora investors to access assets previously reserved for larger participants. Blockchain settlement could replace the current multi-stage process with near-instant transfers, freeing capital and improving market liquidity. If successful, the NSE could become one of Africa’s first exchanges to launch tokenized securities and stablecoin-assisted settlement under regulatory oversight.
