U.S. stock futures edged slightly lower Tuesday evening as oil prices surged roughly 4 % after U.S. forces intercepted ballistic missiles launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at American bases in the Middle East. The Dow Jones industrials climbed more than 500 points during the regular session, but the Nasdaq Composite fell for the fifth straight day, weighed down by struggling chip stocks. Ford Motor shares jumped 4 % after beating earnings expectations and raising its 2026 forecast, while Visa slipped about 1 % following underwhelming guidance. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF dropped 3.5 % for its fourth consecutive losing session, bringing its one-week loss to more than 9 %. Fed funds futures are pricing in a nearly 70 % likelihood that the Federal Reserve holds rates steady at the current target range of 3.5 % to 3.75 % on Wednesday.
