Vint Cerf, one of the architects of TCP/IP protocols and former Google executive, has joined Innovation Labs to work on DNSid, a project designed to provide verifiable identities to autonomous AI agents. The project leverages the existing Domain Name System (DNS) to create a « responsibility anchor » that traces the origin and accountability of AI agent actions. The crypto ecosystem is exploring parallel solutions, such as Ethereum’s ERC-8004 standard and Ledger’s hardware identity system, which use decentralized ledgers to achieve a similar goal. DNSid holds a competitive edge over these alternatives: DNS is already deployed on every connected device without requiring users to understand blockchain technology.
