Apple will allow U.S. customers to lease an iPhone for up to two years starting at $17.99 per month through a partnership with Klarna, a buy now, pay later provider. The program, called Upgrade, will be available at Apple Stores and online after a soft credit check. The company is discontinuing its previous iPhone Upgrade Program, which cost over $42 per month. This initiative aims to make Apple devices more accessible amid rising prices and to shorten the device replacement cycle, currently estimated at nearly four years. Apple is now competing directly with carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
