Zcash mining company Fortitude has brought a 12-megawatt facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, online, expanding its owned power portfolio to more than 60 megawatts across seven sites. The new facility is expected to reduce its direct cash cost of mining Zcash from approximately $70 per coin to roughly $40 per coin, with electricity purchased at about $0.045 per kilowatt-hour. The company, which spun out from Digital Currency Group’s mining division at Foundry and launched in January 2025, plans to go public through a merger with HeartSciences, a publicly traded medical technology company listed on Nasdaq. Zcash currently trades at $489 per coin with an $8 billion market capitalization.
