Three victims filed a lawsuit against Apple at a California court seeking $1.8 million after losing funds due to a fake Bitcoin Sparrow wallet on the App Store. James Ramirez, Christopher Ellis, and Jalen Delgado lost approximately $875,000, $840,000, and $120,000 respectively between May and August 2024. Since the original Sparrow Wallet was only available on Windows, macOS, and Linux, scammers created a fake iOS version to trick users. Craig Raw, the original developer, attempted to warn Apple, but the company allegedly failed to alert users or remove the fraudulent app. An FBI report shows cybercrime losses surged 20 percent to $20 billion in 2025, with crypto-related thefts accounting for $11.4 billion.
