Bitcoin, Ether, XRP and SOL : The Dark Semester for Cryptocurrencies

In the first half of 2026, all five largest cryptocurrencies are posting double-digit losses: Bitcoin down 29.72%, Ethereum down 40.48%, Solana down 44.49%, XRP down 47.43% and BNB down 36.52%. Bitcoin, which started the year near $90,000, is now trading around $63,000. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $4.06 billion in net outflows in June, a record since their launch in January 2024, driving Bitcoin to an annual low of $58,190. Several cycle indicators are now flashing historically associated with market bottoms: Bitcoin bounced off its 200-week moving average around $61,300, and ETF flows turned positive in early July at $46.6 million.
