OpenAI has designated Dublin as its official European Union headquarters and plans to create up to 400 jobs in Ireland over a three-year period. The company has invested approximately 105 million euros in the country and is currently seeking 45,000 square feet of office space to establish a full EMEA hub. Recruitment has focused heavily on senior sales leadership roles, including Emma Redmond as head of EU privacy and Sanj Bhayro as head of sales for EMEA, both starting in January 2026. OpenAI also launched the OpenAI for Ireland initiative on November 14, 2025, in partnership with the Irish government, to promote AI skills among small and medium-sized enterprises. This expansion reflects OpenAI’s intent to monetize its technology across Europe and navigate the EU AI Act requirements.
