Oil prices have shown significant sensitivity to President Trump’s statements about Iran, with notable volatility in global benchmarks Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI). This market reaction is linked to concerns over potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil transportation. Brent prices have fluctuated between $97 and $110 per barrel, while prediction markets in early March 2026 priced a 7.4% probability of a new all-time high being reached by end of September, down from 9% the previous day. The probability of WTI reaching $130 in July 2026 remains low at 0.4%.
