Trump, Senate and Crypto: Where Does the CLARITY Act Really Stand?

The CLARITY Act, aimed at clarifying the regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the United States, has reached major milestones: passed by the House of Representatives in July 2025 by a 294-134 vote, then approved by the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026 by a 15-9 vote. A new version of the bill was published on July 22, but negotiations are now hindered by conflicts of interest related to Donald Trump’s crypto activities, which reportedly generated over two billion dollars. The legislative timeline has worsened and a vote before the August recess now appears unlikely. The chances of enactment in 2026 have dropped to approximately 37 % on Polymarket, down from over 80 % in the spring.
