Aztec Network launched its Alpha V5 release on mainnet on Tuesday, calling it the fastest private transactions ever shipped. The update reduces proving time to approximately 2.5 seconds on a consumer laptop, twice as fast as version V4, while cutting transaction fees to under $0.05 for a fully private token transfer. The company tested this version with over 234 researchers through the Cantina bug bounty program. The first application deployed is Nyx, a wallet enabling private transfers on Ethereum and private yield on the Aave lending protocol, temporarily open to everyone for 24 hours. The performance metrics disclosed are self-reported by Aztec and have not been independently benchmarked.
