Bitcoin developers are increasingly divided over how urgently the cryptocurrency needs to prepare for the quantum computing threat. The debate intensified this week at Paris Blockchain Week, where Blockstream CEO Adam Back urged the community to begin building optional quantum-resistant upgrades even as he acknowledged that todays quantum machines remain largely confined to research labs with only incremental progress over the past two and a half decades.
