Jeff Booth, a Canadian entrepreneur and founding partner at Ego Death Capital, spent approximately 15,000 hours attempting to find vulnerabilities in Bitcoin. After years of analysis, he concluded that the network is decentralized and secure, and that he was the one who was wrong. Bitcoin currently trades around $63,000 with a market cap of roughly $1.27 trillion, down about 50% from its record of $126,198 set on October 6, 2025. About 24,000 reachable nodes enforce consensus rules and the 21 million supply cap remains intact. Risks persist nonetheless: three mining pools produced approximately 61% of all blocks over the past month, and an alternative fork called BIP-110 has already found four blocks, illustrating ongoing governance tensions around the protocol.
