Ransomware group ExfilSquad has stolen data from over 100,000 UK police officers and administrative staff from multiple government bodies, including the Ministry of Defence, the Home Office, the National Crime Agency, and the Crown Prosecution Service. In total, 114,000 Police National Legal Database subscribers were affected, along with 2,615 Crown Prosecution Service employees, 617 Home Office staff, 588 NCA personnel, and 402 Ministry of Defence workers. The group claims to have hacked 15 firms and organizations, including Microsoft and the UK Department for Education, and demands cryptocurrency ransom before August 5. The UK government is considering banning public sector bodies from paying ransoms to deter attacks on government institutions.
