Vitalik Buterin Says Ethereum Is Betting Its Future on Quantum Security and AI

Share

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, has stated that quantum resistance, privacy, and AI-assisted security have become major priorities for Ethereum since its 2023 roadmap. Ethereum researchers are increasingly relying on STARKs, a cryptographic technology for verifying computations, and AI-assisted formal verification to ensure the protocol works as intended. Buterin outlined a phased plan to replace four potentially vulnerable components of Ethereum’s cryptographic architecture in response to the threat posed by quantum computers, known as Q-Day. His Lean Ethereum proposal aims to simplify the network’s technical specifications while making them quantum-resistant. Ethereum has accelerated preparations for Q-Day, with the Ethereum Foundation forming a dedicated post-quantum team earlier this year.
