President Trump on Friday defended the subpoenas issued by the Department of Justice against New York Times reporters, as part of a criminal investigation into leaks regarding his new Air Force One plane donated by Qatar. The DOJ revealed that Google had also received a subpoena in the same investigation. The day before, the DOJ told a federal judge in New York that it was withdrawing those demands for grand jury testimony and phone records. Judge Arun Subramanian had warned prosecutors that he would quash the subpoenas if they did not voluntarily withdraw them. Trump said his administration was pursuing leakers, not journalists.
