Tether has invested $20 million in a strategic growth financing round for Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil’s largest crypto exchange. Founded in 2013, the platform holds over 10 regulatory licenses across Brazil and Europe and serves 4.5 million users. It has issued more than 2 billion reais ($370 million) in tokenized assets. The capital will be used to expand payment infrastructure, scale tokenized investment products, and advance on-chain capital markets across Latin America. This investment follows Tether’s pattern of strategic stakes in regional financial infrastructure.
