Tesla will officially end production of its Model S and Model X in the first or second quarter of 2026. The Fremont factory has already halted production as of late March 2026 and is being repurposed to manufacture Optimus humanoid robots. The automaker reportedly plans to release open source design files, engineering documents, and software for both iconic vehicles launched in 2012 and 2015 respectively. This move would mirror the 2023 open-sourcing of the original Roadster, though no official announcement has yet confirmed these plans.
