A study presented at USENIX Security 2026 identified 65,340 risky crypto addresses involved in misuse across Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Associated losses are valued at over $574 million, representing 126,982.94 ETH and 17,726.7 BNB. The research draws on 63,004 GitHub repositories and over 16.3 million deduplicated private keys, achieving 99.11% detection precision. Two newly described attack vectors account for approximately $15.7 million, or 2.7% of the total estimated losses. Researchers have begun disclosing the findings to wallet developers and exchanges.
