Strive CEO Matt Cole responds to criticism of his company’s Bitcoin treasury strategy, which holds nearly 20,000 BTC worth approximately $1.3 billion, making Strive the seventh-largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally. Cole, formerly head of fixed-income at CalPERS where he managed over $70 billion in assets, argues that both critics and advocates agree on the fundamental problem: traditional treasury strategies are losing ground to currency debasement. The company purchased 759 BTC in mid-June 2026 at average prices between $63,000 and $74,000 per coin. Short-seller Jim Chanos has dismissed these strategies as « financial gibberish », but Cole insists the disagreement is only about the solution, with Bitcoin being his proposed answer as the hardest hurdle rate for corporate capital allocation.
