Spotify is rolling out a new classification system for AI-generated artist profiles, tagging them with an « AI Persona » label and excluding their music from editorial, algorithmic, and personalized recommendations. This move does not ban AI-generated music from the platform but makes it effectively invisible to users who are not actively searching for it. Spotify had already removed 75 million spam tracks in a single year before the September 2025 announcement, revealing the industrial scale of the problem. The « Verified by Spotify » badge introduced in April 2026 and mandatory AI use disclosure requirements are also part of this strategy. The policy essentially creates a zoning system: AI-generated music can exist on the platform but cannot compete for the same discovery spaces that human artists depend on for visibility and income.
