SpaceX shares surged 35% after lockup expiration, adding approximately $500 billion in market capitalization. The June 2026 IPO priced at $135 per share raised $75 billion, making it the largest initial public offering ever with an initial float deliberately kept under 5% of outstanding shares. After peaking near $225, the stock had dropped more than 40% before rebounding following the August 6, 2026 lockup expiration, which unlocked 911.5 million additional shares. The tradable float is expected to grow to 40% by December 2026, while Elon Musk’s personal stake remains locked until mid-2027.
