Sila Nanotechnologies lands $300M funding round as DOD loan claims remain unverified

Sila Nanotechnologies closed a 300 million dollar private equity funding round on July 21, 2026, led by Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures, to expand its Moses Lake, Washington manufacturing facility. The company has raised total funding exceeding 1 billion dollars since its founding and has received roughly 100 million dollars in cost-sharing from the Department of Energy. Its flagship product, Titan Silicon, is a silicon-carbon anode material designed to boost energy density in lithium-ion batteries. A claim circulating on social media suggests the Department of Defense has signed a 1.4 billion dollar conditional loan agreement with Sila, but no official verification confirms this deal exists.
