Sealed in Foil: BMAG’s New Focus on Trading Cards

BMAG (Bitcoin Museum and Art Gallery) is making trading cards a central part of its program, seven years after its founding as the cultural wing of the Bitcoin Conference. The trading card market is at all-time highs, with rare cards selling for eight figures, but the grading system faces fundamental questions about trust and verification. Bitcoin Asia 2026, scheduled for August 27-28 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will host a dedicated trading card expo featuring a marketplace, grading and authentication services, and auctions. Hong Kong is one of the most active card markets in the world, and collectors share with bitcoiners the same pursuit of verification and transparent provenance. The artistic movement known as schizocollage, emerging from crypto subcultures and Twitter, is now creating work for physical cards rather than gallery walls.
