SanDisk sees KV cache driving 35% of AI data center NAND workloads by 2030

SanDisk, newly independent after its spin-off from Western Digital in February 2025, predicts that KV cache will account for 35% of all AI data center NAND flash workloads by 2030. This key-value caching technology enables AI models to avoid redundant computations during response generation. The company forecasts that KV cache alone could drive 75 to 100 exabytes of additional NAND demand by 2027, potentially doubling by 2028. The enterprise SSD market is projected to grow at approximately 35% compound annual growth rate through 2030. HBM currently costs roughly 10 to 20 times more per gigabyte than NAND flash, giving NAND-based solutions a significant cost advantage for data center storage infrastructure.
