Russian attack cuts power to around 150,000 in Ukraine’s north as Kyiv hits missile, oil facilities

A Russian attack on an energy facility in Ukraine’s northern city of Chernihiv cut power to around 150,000 residents on Friday. Ukrainian air defenses were also deployed to repel strikes on the capital Kyiv. In response, Ukraine carried out operations against a missile components facility in Kirov, Russia, and an oil infrastructure located nearly 1,350 kilometers away. Meanwhile, the European Union announced on Thursday its largest sanctions package against Russia in four years, targeting nearly 220 individuals and entities.
