Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev’s X hacked to promote $VLAD

Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, had his X account hacked on July 23 to promote a memecoin called Vladhood ($VLAD), falsely presented as the official mascot of the Robinhood Chain blockchain. Investigation revealed a coordinated attack: pre-funded wallets purchased 70% of the token before the public announcement, then immediately sold off, a classic pump-and-dump scheme. The attackers generated approximately $1.2 million to $1.3 million, equivalent to 650 ETH. The timing was aided by the Robinhood Chain launch, which had amassed $750 million in on-chain assets, over 300,000 daily active addresses, and 10 million transactions in a single day, lending credibility to the fraudulent launch. Tenev recovered access to his account and confirmed the hack.
