Qualcomm announced on July 24 that it will raise smartphone processor prices by double-digit percentages, effective for all shipments after September 1, 2026. The flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor may now exceed $300 per unit, up from a prior range of $240 to $280. Industry bill-of-materials costs rose between 10% and 30% during the 2025-2026 period. MediaTek, its chief rival, implemented similar price increases of 10% to 20% back in June 2026. Qualcomm shares dipped more than 1% intraday following the announcement.
