Premier League proposes £1.5B financial distribution deal with EFL as crypto sponsorship scrutiny intensifies

The Premier League has unanimously approved a £1.5 billion redistribution package to the English Football League over ten years, representing approximately £150 million annually for lower-league clubs. This amount marks a significant increase in solidarity payments and is expected to fund infrastructure, academies, and stadium projects across the EFL’s 72 clubs. A £20 million lifeboat fund will also be established for clubs entering administration. This package aligns with projected media rights revenue exceeding £4 billion for the 2026/27 cycle. Simultaneously, the Financial Conduct Authority has warned clubs about legal risks associated with partnerships with unauthorized crypto firms such as OKX, BingX, and Kraken, raising the prospect of enforcement actions against them.
